In this chapter I begin the discussion of how the Real Self is connected to spirituality. I believe that the Real Self contains not only psychological wisdom, but also our spiritual potential. The Real Self has the capacity to connect to a larger source, what I refer to as Spiritual Energy. Much of what is reported in this chapter is based on several years of my own informal research. In particular, I asked countless numbers of people three questions: (a) What is your personal definition of spirituality? (b) How have you experienced spirituality in your life? (c) How do you access or practice your spirituality?

What I found is that although spirituality is uniquely defined and experienced, common themes emerge, including: a sense of already possessing spiritual knowledge, experiencing Spiritual Energy both internally and externally, transcendent and ordinary experiences, present moment awareness, interconnectedness, love versus fear, potentialities, creativity and artistic expression, nature and natural beauty, open-heartedness, and personal relationships. These themes provide a foundation to discuss the very personal topic of spirituality in broad and inclusive ways.
